Why I decided to learn Japanese

I decided to learn Japanese because I like a lot of things about Japanese culture, such as food(!!) and pop culture. My family also goes to Japan often I would like to be able to get around and converse with the people there.
So far, I think the most challenging thing is learning the different writing systems (hiragana, katakana, and kanji) and getting used to the sentence structure and use of particles. I think later on knowing when to use each writing system will also be difficult.
